Sunroom Counselling, the private practice of Kim Soysal, offers compassionate, trauma-informed counselling and psychotherapy for adults and couples. Grounded in evidence-based practice and a relational approach, therapy is shaped around the unique experiences, needs and hopes of each individual and dyad.
Drawing from a range of therapeutic approaches — including attachment theory, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), parts work informed by the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model, polyvagal theory and narrative therapy — Kim supports clients to deepen self-understanding, strengthen emotional safety and develop more connected ways of relating to themselves and others.
At Sunroom Counselling, Kim aims to provide a warm, thoughtful and collaborative space where clients can explore the experiences, relationships and broader contexts that shape their lives, identities and ongoing concerns. Support is available for individuals navigating anxiety, depression, parenting, shifting identities, neurodivergence, life transitions and relationship difficulties, as well as for those seeking a deeper understanding of themselves.
Central to Sunroom Counselling’s philosophy is the belief that clients are the experts in their own lives and experiences. Kim approaches the therapeutic relationship collaboratively, taking care to honour each person’s existing strengths, capacities and ways of making meaning, while working alongside them to foster greater clarity, agency and connection. Kim also considers the broader systemic and contextual factors that shape each individual’s and couple’s lived experiences, including family of origin, community, privilege and discrimination, and experiences of marginalisation.
